ISR Survival Swim Lessons

Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue™ program teaches children how to survive if they were to reach the water alone. ISR lessons are one-on-one and customized to the developmental level of each child, and are available for both neurotypical children and those with special needs. This program empowers all children, regardless of their challenges, to gain confidence, self-rescue skills, and independence in the water. Questions about your child or our program? Contact Angela Brown for more information.

Session Information

Each session is a 4-6 week course, scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for 10 minutes each day.

What to Expect

ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) is not simply pediatric or survival swimming; it’s a specialized neurodevelopmental process tailored for children aged 6 months to 6 years. This program goes beyond teaching basic water skills, focusing instead on developing each child’s ability to self-rescue and adapt safely to aquatic environments. ISR instructors adhere to some of the strictest standards in the industry, including daily pool chemical logging, video submission of lessons, and collaboration with nursing staff through a 24-hour hotline managed by ISR.

All enrollment fees go directly to ISR, ensuring that every aspect of the program maintains the highest level of safety and quality.

6 Months – 12 Months

Babies who can crawl–generally six months to 12 months old–learn to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe.

1 Year – 6 Years

Children who can walk, generally one year of age and older (up to six years), learn to hold their breath underwater, swim with their head down and eyes open, roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool and can crawl out.

What Makes Our ISR Survival Swim Program Unique?

Angela Brown, owner and head instructor, is the only ISR-certified instructor in the Brazos Valley, uniquely qualified to guide children—both neurotypical and those with special needs—through a transformative learning journey in the water. Her approach is anchored in ISR’s neurodevelopmental process, specifically designed for children aged 6 months to 6 years. ISR is not simply pediatric or survival swimming; it’s a rigorously developed methodology backed by strict compliance standards, including daily pool chemical logging, reporting to nursing staff, and yearly recertification.

Angela’s teaching philosophy centers on “how to overcome”, blending her expertise as a developmental and movement specialist and dive master. She breaks down movements for each student to personalize their lessons, empowering them with problem-solving skills, confidence, and strength—both in the water and out of it.

Angela stands out on a national level by integrating physical therapy techniques with unique swim instruction methods, such as coordination training and obstacle-based lessons, fostering both swimming ability and developmental growth. Her innovative sessions incorporate diving and retrieval exercises, making each lesson an engaging and holistic experience. Parents are also a vital part of the process, learning how to work with their children for lasting success.

H20 Survival Swim School’s dedication to excellence ensures that every child has the tools to overcome challenges and achieve their potential, one stroke at a time.
